Maritime Rowing Girls Varsity Team completed its best season ever with wins on both coasts. Starting with the 7th Annual Riverfront Regatta in Hartford, the team won gold in the three main girl's high school events, including winning the prestigious Guzman Cup.
At the Head of the Charles in Cambridge, the Varsity eight finished sixth overall out of 57 boats in the Youth Women's event, which included both high school and college freshmen crews. They were second in the high school division, and lost only to Yale, Brown, Princeton and Penn freshman college crews. The lightweight Varsity Eight finished 13th overall and beat their longtime rival CRI from Boston. Moving south to Philly, they also had success as the Varsity eight finished fourth, only 4 seconds behind Detroit. The Varsity 2 boat came in second in their division.
At the New Canaan Sprints, here in Norwalk, both the Varsity Eight and Four came in second.
To end the season in style, the team traveled to Newport Beach California to test their speed against
teams from California and Arizona at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival. Maritime successfully defended
their titles in the Girls 8 and 4+ divisions.
